Text Box: About Us

Princella, a passionate teacher, spiritual coach and political advocate for women, children and universal healthcare, began doing her pottery in the mid-1980’s.

She began with an evening class at  Grosse Pointe South High School, Michigan, and graduated to more complex classes at
the historic Pewabic Pottery under the tutelage of Dan Robar.  She has worked in a studio in Troy, Michigan.  Her work has
been featured at Pewabic Pottery in Detroit.

Princi creates her unique designs by slabbing and hand building.  She enjoys gas, electric and salt firing and raku.  All of her creations are one of a kind and available only here at the “Clayscapes by Princi” E-Gallery.

Princella, who has African and Native American roots, has traveled throughout Mexico and the western coastal countries
of Africa and was inspired by the earthy designs and brilliant colors of native works.  Her pottery captures the classic beauty
of those cultures.

Many of her pieces are named after the ethnicities she encountered during her travels to Senegal and the Gambia of West Africa.  The Fulani, Mandinka, Jola, Wolof and Tukulor are a few of the 13 original ethnicities that are native to those two countries.  The names are as beautiful and fascinating as the people and their lands.
